PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD

The Parks and Recreation Board is a six-member panel, four of whom are appointed by the Town Council for a term of four years on the basis of their interest in, and knowledge of, parks and recreation.

 

  • No more than two of the members may be of the same political party.
  • The fifth member is appointed by the School Board from its membership for a term no longer than the term enjoyed as a school board trustee.
  • The sixth member is a liaison position appointed by the Town Council.
  • The department administrator is the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, who is appointed based upon training and/or education in the field of parks and recreation. 

 

The Parks and Recreation Board manages all municipal parks and facilities, hires staff to maintain the parks and provide recreational programming.
