Celebrate Arbor Day in Highland - Friday, April 25

Celebrate Arbor Day in Highland at 4 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the Heron Rookery, located at the north end of Liable Road. Hear an Arbor Day proclamtion by Town Council President George Georgeff. Celebrate 200 new trees along the Little Calumet River. Bring your trowels and shovels to help mulch these newly planted Shagbark Hickory and Wild Plum trees.


Community Park Cleanup Day - Saturday, April 26

Join Highland Parks and Recreation for its 24th annual Community Park Cleanup Day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26. Everyone is welcome, especially community groups and families. You will be assigned a park for cleanup. Bring gloves, rakes and energy! Immediately after, meet us at noon at Main Square Park to receive your free T-shirt and lunch. Downtown Restaurant Crawl - Tuesday, April 29

Join us for our popular Restaurant Crawl from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 in downtown Highland. The concept is simple: participating restaurants feature a special for $7 or less, so that visitors can “eat their way through downtown,” stopping at their usual haunts and discovering new ones along the way. Downtown Retail Crawl - Saturday, May 3

Join Highland Main Street for a retail crawl from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3 in downtown Highland. Pick up a list of participating businesses at Tasty Olive or Miles Books on the day of the event and visit participating buisness to get your sheet signed. Select businesses will a offer a special deal to customers who present their crawl sheet at checkout. Sheets will be collected at the Community Garden on Highway Avenue (next to the fire station) and can be traded in for a raffle ticket. Recipts from purchases at participating businesses can be presented to earn additional raffle tickets. Raffle drawing begins at 3:15 p.m. Winners must be present.


Townwide Yard Sale - Deadline to register is May 9

Highland’s next Townwide Yard Sale will be held from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. May 23-24. Participants can sign up for Saturday only or both days. All participating addresses must be located in Highland. Residents are responsible for setup/removal of sale items, method of payment and assume all responsibility/liability for their location taking part in the event. Click here to register. Republic Services will schedule extra crews Tuesday, MAY 20 to collect trash and rubbish generated by spring cleaning. NOT INCLUDED: Construction debris, concrete, electronics, televisions, household hazardous waste and leaves.
