Highland Safe Streets for All

Highland Safe Streets for All

Introducing a new web page to keep you in-the-know about Highland’s pursuit of its first Safe Streets for All grant. The federal program awards construction dollars to qualifying political subdivisions, such as cities, towns, counties and special government districts. The Town of Highland has requested funding for safety improvements in the Kleinman/Ridge Road area.

The SS4A program provides funding and technical assistance to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries and to strengthen communities' approach to roadway safety for all users. Our shared goal is zero roadway fatalities.

The town’s Comprehensive Safety Action Plan has already been reviewed by the Town Council, Redevelopment Commission and Traffic Safety Commission.  You can view Highland's Comprehensive Safety Action Plan by clicking the tab on the left.

The SS4A program is authorized at $1 billion in competitive grants per year through FY 2026. There is no statutory minimum or maximum, but expected award sizes in fiscal year 2025 are between $100,000 and $25 million depending on the scope of the project.Federal cost-sharing for planning grants is 80 percent; applicants must provide the remaining 20 percent using non-federal funds (in-kind contributions are allowed).
