HIGHLAND BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
The Commission oversees the Town's various special commercial districts, as well as the
Architectural and Design Standards associated with those districts. The Redevelopment
Commission, on issues related to such topics as the Highland Town Theatre project, creation of an Arts and Cultural District, the Town's Façade Improvement Grant program, and oversight of Highland's Heron Rookery.
In addition, the Redevelopment Commission works with the Highland Town Council and the Economic Development Commission, on matters related to proposed tax abatement on new or renovated commercial projects. Commission staff members also are members and active participants in the Highland Chamber of Commerce and the Highland Community Foundation.
The Highland Redevelopment Commission is dedicated to building Highland's tax base and economic opportunities, by taking what exists, seeing how it is working and what we can do to help it work better.
The Town of Highland is always looking for upstanding members of the community to serve on one of its many boards or commissions: Advistory Board of Appeals, Board of Sanitary
Commissioners, Board of Waterworks Directors, Park and Recreation Board, Redevelopment Commission, Plan Commission, Community Events Commission, Highland Main Street Commission and the Town Board of Metropolitan Police Commission.
