Come home to Highland!
HIGHLAND BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
The Commission works to recruit and retain businesses in our community and oversees the Town's various special commercial districts, as well as the Architectural and Design Standards associated with those districts.
The Redevelopment Commission also participates with Highland Main Street Bureau on issues related to such topics as the town's Façade Improvement Grant program, oversight of Highland's Heron Rookery and activities and events designed to promote and enhance our downtown. The Commission also works with the Economic Development Commission on tax abatement proposals.
The Highland Redevelopment Commission is dedicated to building Highland's tax base and economic opportunities, by taking what exists, seeing how it is working and what we can do to help it work better.
To streamline the process and shorten your timetable for listing Highland as your business location, a majority of the Town Council members serve as the town’s Redevelopment Commission. Call our Redevelopment office at (219)-972-7598 to get the process moving.
The Town of Highland is always looking for upstanding members of the community to serve on one of its many boards or commissions: Advistory Board of Appeals, Board of Sanitary
Commissioners, Board of Waterworks Directors, Park and Recreation Board, Redevelopment Commission, Plan Commission, Community Events Commission, Highland Main Street Commission and the Town Board of Metropolitan Police Commission.
