HIGHLAND BOARDS & COMMISSIONS

PARK & RECREATION BOARD

 

The Parks and Recreation Board is a six-member panel, four of whom are appointed by the Town Council for a term of four years on the basis of their interest in, and knowledge of, parks and recreation. No more than two of the members may be of the same political party. The fifth member is appointed by the School Board from its membership for a term no longer than the term enjoyed as a school board trustee. The sixth member is a liaison position appointed by the Town Council. The department administrator is the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, who is appointed based upon training and/or education in the field of parks and recreation.

The Parks and Recreation Board manages all municipal parks and facilities, hires staff to maintain the parks and provide recreational programming.

APPLICATION

The Town of Highland is always looking for upstanding members of the community to serve on one of its many boards or commissions: Advistory Board of Appeals, Board of Sanitary

Commissioners, Board of Waterworks Directors, Park and Recreation Board, Redevelopment Commission, Plan Commission, Community Events Commission, Highland Main Street Commission and the Town Board of Metropolitan Police Commission.
