The town’s Police and Fire departments are part of Lake County’s Consolidated Dispatching center. What that means for all residents and business owners is a quick call to 9-1-1 for any and all requests for police services -- whether that is for theft reports, suspicious people in your neighborhood, domestic disturbances, loud music, triggered alarms, lost pets or shoplifting.

All calls are routed through the county’s dispatch center, but a Highland police officer will respond to your call. We are one of the few departments in Lake County that remain staffed 24/7.

Walk-in traffic is welcome anytime. We can take recovered property, make reports at the station, monitor e-bay/craigslist type transactions in our lobby as well as parental custody transfers.

Because we are staffed, we continue answering administrative calls for individuals who wish to speak with an officer, inquire about pending report availability, answer calls and provide dispatch for after-hours concerns for the Public Works Department.

To reach us directly, simply call (219) 838-3184.

EMERGENCY CONTACTS

The Highland Police Department Emergency Contact Service is designed to save precious seconds when it matters most. Police urge seniors and those who have a handicap or disability to be proactive. The process is simple. Fill out a form that lists a trusted contact. Individuals on the form should be able to respond quickly in emergency situations with a key to the residence.
